Room 313, Saturday afternoon

After last night's trip to the common room, Jaina was still cracking up internally. Sorry, but now she had enough mocking opportunities for John, Karal and Gavin to last her for a good long time.

And she was pretty much getting ready to attempt tracking them down to do so, definitely knowing where to start.

"Hey, no need to explain," he said, rubbing her shoulder with one hand.

"Maybe I should have opted for the single," she said, turning her head to kiss his hand lightly.

Watching her kiss his hand, he realized they should probably get a little further apart or this stopping thing wasn't going to work. "But then you couldn't torment Gavin and Inara as easily," he reminded her.

"I'm not the one doing the tormenting there," she said, reluctantly sliding off his lap. "Maybe I should start."

"You really ought to," he said, thinking of Gavin in class last week. "Besides, we can always go to my room." He would never stop owing the office staff for that gift.

She really was tempted to go up there right now. "We shouldn't," she said after a pause, but smiled a little. "This time."

"You know, I'm really liking this whole 'next time' business with you," he smiled.

"Have to keep you interested somehow," she teased.

"I do bore easily," he teased back. "And Karal's a really good singer..."

"I hate to break it to you," she said seriously. "I'm not a good singer at all."

"Hmm," John pretended to consider this. "I think I can let that slide for now, but only if I get to hear you sing sometime."

"Oh no," she said, shaking her head. "If you're expecting to hear that, we're going to have to break up now. Sorry."

"You'd break up with me rather than sing for me?" he pouted, really wanting to hear now. "And here I was planning to take you flying," he sighed.

"Oh, please tell me you're not mean enough to trade flying for singing," she said, because she really did want to do one of those things.

He hadn't actually thought of that until she said it. "Yes. Yes I am that mean," he grinned.

Jaina reached over to grab her pillow, just to throw it at him. You know, that huge distance it had to fly.

He laughed, as her pillow hit him in the chest. "Does that mean I get to hear you sing?"

"Take me flying and we'll see," she said.

"I think I'm going to need something a little more solid than 'we'll see,'" he replied not believing she'd follow through.

"How much more solid?"

"A promise."

"I promise to think about it."

"Uh uh," he shook his head. "It's a fair trade. I take you flying, you sing. Soon I up it to singing karaoke..."

Jaina paused, frowning. "Fine."

And she was immediately trying to figure a way out of it. She'd been in captivity and cells enough, this should be easy in comparison.

He grinned, "I look forward to hearing it." He kissed her cheek and stood up.
