RAF Mildenhall, UK- Saturday Fandom time

Jaina was really regretting getting John that Snuggie for his twenty-sixth birthday, for the simple fact that he never seemed to want to take it off. She'd raised an eyebrow when he said that he wanted it, and moreso when she actually had to go buy one and it was suddenly reality, but she'd figured it was something that he'd think was cool for a day and that'd be it.

Nope.

And after a while of watching him walk around in it today, she finally just had to say it. "Why do I think I'm being replaced by a sheet of fabric with holes?"

[For the Snuggie wearer. For shame.]

That actually sounded kind of gross. "Yeah, let's not say that ever again."

"I seem to recall hearing that from you before," John realized.

"No, that you never thought you'd be having this conversation," he clarified.

Yeah, it was obvious she liked having him around.

"Better that than hearing you're bored with me," he figured.

"Just like you could never be jealous of a blanket with sleeves," John pointed out with a wee smirk on his face. Sometimes it was fun to mess with her.

Okay, all the time.

"Attention that could be focused on..." John tapped his chin for a moment, "right, you!"

"Yeah, well, they taught me how to do that in college," he told her.

Oh, how future talk hurt. He'd done the math more times than he'd care to admit and recalling the number of years that would pass for him by the time she graduated never left him feeling great. Even jokingly adding college to that and, well, he didn't want to think about it.

"I'm telling you, the leopard print would be right up your alley."

"I'm good right now," he replied honestly. It was anything future that bugged.

It was sort of annoying that the issues 'we' needed to deal with were always really his issues. Jaina was seemingly happy and issue-free and it was consistently John ruining the happiness by having far too much time on his hands.

Which was kinda the problem.

"If you're good, I'm good."

Imminent meaning she didn't have to deal with it staring her in the face four-fifths of the month.

"Then there might be something to talk about," he said. "If you brought it up."

It didn't take an empath to figure out she was worried. John reached his Snuggie-covered arms around her and gave a squeeze. "Nah. It's fine, I promise."

Thinking he knew the only possible solution to his problem, John wasn't willing to bring it up.
