Office hours- Monday

Jaina would have never figured that her first real office would be the one she had as a teacher at Fandom High. Nothing about it made any sense to her. Yet here she was.

She figured no one would be coming in on a holiday, so she wasn't too hard on herself for coming in later than planned when her training ran long. (Trust her, there were reasons for training to run long this morning.) Leaving the door open, she sat behind the desk, trying to get everything set up the way she wanted it.

You don't want to know how long it took her to get her chair to the right height. It was a little embarrassing.

"Mine moved," he shared, tilting his head at how tall she seemed in that chair. "You're the first on my list of suspects." She was the last, too. He didn't care enough to have a real list.

"Because you're in your office," he pointed out logically. "It's like you were waiting for me to show up after class." See how he his brain could work?

"So you claim," John replied, crossing his arms. "What are you doing in here if not waiting to see if your plot worked?"

"Never took you for one so interested in the placement of staplers," he remarked, equally amused. "And there was no theft, simply movement."

"Across the hall," John answered. "From number eleven to twelve." Weird.

"Seriously, did you just move your stapler to spite me?" It seemed to him someone was being contrary and yet he found it flirtatious. There was something wrong.

"You're a bad liar," John told her. "And when you put it like that it sounds a lot dumber than reality, but I had...things to do in there. Or okay, nothing to do, but that was the point. I was looking forward to that nothing."

Oh now that was just going to bother him. "My chair where I like to sit and do nothing seems to be missing," he added, crossing over to her desk to right the stapler.

Please, like she hadn't been trying to start something with that. "There's a bottom for a reason."

John's gaze narrowed on her. "You don't."

"Because I made the mistake of showing you it bothered me," he answered, just a little self importantly.

Just for that, John reached out to right the stapler again.

"When I leave you can fix your things," he suggested.

"It sounds bad when you say it," he complained, knocking the stapler back over and leaning his hip against her desk in defeat.
