Room 313, Sunday afternoon

With the time change she didn't quite understand, Jaina had seen an opportunity to get some more sleep and have a nice easy day. This didn't work out as planned, though, as her body and brain had both decided they'd already had the required amount of sleep, thanks, and she'd gotten up to go and practice some drills because it was much less boring than laying there.

When she got back and cleaned up, she was almost tempted to head down to the garage for a while. Maybe it was the recent transmissions home or certain conversations she'd been having lately, but she was getting a bit restless knowing there was nothing she could do from here. It was a new feeling, one she didn't like, and while she knew she should probably learn to deal with it, she didn't see that happening. Still, staying in for five more minutes was showing an effort, right?

John chuckled but didn't contribute anything to their banter, not wanting to dig himself into a hole.

"I seem to remember you knowing a little about that whole shooting thing yourself," she reminded Luke.

Luke's cheeks went pink. "But I got better," he mumbled. "I'm up to three remotes at a time."

She stared at him. "Three?"

"Yes?" Luke replied.

John had no clue what they were talking about. "Is that a lot or something?"

"I can handle one," Jaina explained, figuring that said about all it needed to.

Luke was still blushing. "Sorry," he said. "Cake?"

"Yes, cake and then I'll give tell you about your present from me," John offered.

"I have to wait?" she teased.

"Yes," he nodded. "Because it's not here."

"Fine, show me up," Luke teased, cutting the cake.

"You're teasing me on purpose," Jaina decided. Because she was really curious.

"Yep," he said. "That and I left it upstairs."

"You're lucky I'm patient," she said. No, she wasn't. Pretty much ever.

"I'll go get it while you guys get some cake, okay?" he offered, doubting her patience.

"Some'll be waiting for you," she assured him.

"But not much if you take too long," Luke added.

"I'll go fast!" John said, heading out.

"I like him," Luke told Jaina after he'd left. "He can stay."

"Good. I was planning on keeping him around for a while," Jaina admitted.

Luke smiled. "Is it weird having a birthday without Jacen?"

"It really is," she nodded. "I know we would have spent it apart anyway, probably, even if I was back home, but we've always spent it together until now. Takes some getting used to."

"I'm the wrong half of the wrong twin set," Luke said quietly, "but if you need anything, let me know?"
