Room 313, Sunday afternoon

With the time change she didn't quite understand, Jaina had seen an opportunity to get some more sleep and have a nice easy day. This didn't work out as planned, though, as her body and brain had both decided they'd already had the required amount of sleep, thanks, and she'd gotten up to go and practice some drills because it was much less boring than laying there.

When she got back and cleaned up, she was almost tempted to head down to the garage for a while. Maybe it was the recent transmissions home or certain conversations she'd been having lately, but she was getting a bit restless knowing there was nothing she could do from here. It was a new feeling, one she didn't like, and while she knew she should probably learn to deal with it, she didn't see that happening. Still, staying in for five more minutes was showing an effort, right?

"For the last time, our time lines don't line up," Luke hissed at John, trying to figure out how to manage carrying a cake and knocking on a door. "I didn't know what yesterday was."

Being wrong brought out the whiny side of Luke.

"I still say you should've told me it was coming up," John muttered, feeling guilty about spending the previous day with the wrong Skywalker family member.

He knocked on the door to help Luke out.

"You forgot to mention something kind of important about yesterday," Luke scolded lightly.

"Good thing the radio is thorough," John added.

Luke grinned. "Suuuuure," he said, leaning over to kiss her on the cheek. "You're just going to try to get two birthdays out of the deal."

John watched their interchange, amused. "You'd be older than Luke by the end of the week," he teased.

Isabel made a quick trip into town before turning up on Jaina's doorstep.

One hand hidden behind her back, she knocked on the door.

"Hi Jaina," Isabel smiled, feeling a bit sheepish as she pulled the box out from behind her back. "Radio said it was your birthday. I thought you might like this."

"Exactly. Who doesn't like chocolate?" She shrugged, "As for not having to do anything, maybe I didn't. But I wanted to. Did you have a good day?"

"There's nothing wrong with low-key as long as you enjoyed it," Isabel replied. "You can appreciate it more because there's not a gazillion things going on. And speaking of a gazillion things going on, I'm sorry I never got a chance to see you at Homecoming. There were too many alumni and people I was trying to talk to and before I knew it the night was over. Did your date like your dress?"

"Did you have a good day yesterday?" Inara asked, entering with a basket full of clean clothes. "I'm sorry I don't have anything for you."

Laughing as she dumped the clothes out on her bed and began folding them, she asked, "So how old are you now, if you don't mind my asking? People were prepared? How is that possible?"

"That's understandable, I suppose," she said, "You're far from most of your family, after all. You can always celebrate more later, if you want."
