Room 313, Sunday afternoon

After yesterday's trip into the common room, Jaina decided maybe she'd stick to her own room today, at least until she knew this current bout of Fandom weirdness was over. She could only deal with so much patheticness in one weekend and she was pretty sure she'd filled her quota of being yelled at, cried at and accused of liking other boys better.

So until then she was going to keep working on her homework. With the door closed.

"Of course," he agreed. "And yesterday, well, I really don't know why I would even think that way."

"Subconscious desire to freak me out?" she teased, relieved to hear that.

"Always," he replied. "Why else would I do half the things I do here?"

"Good point," she said with a little smile. "So what'd Gavin do that wanting to kill him is what you're not repressing?"

"My telling you is going to depend on whether it made radio or not," John teased. "So you tell me what you know and maybe I can fill in some details."

Radio hadn't been that detailed, but now she really wanted to know. "It started out saying you bitched at each other. I think that was a direct quote," she said.

"Hmm," John considered if there was any way he could tell her any part without looking like a huge idiot. "Let's just say he was insulting and I socked him for it."

Jaina's eyes widened. "You hit him? Last I saw no one was moving from their spots. What did he say?"

"Um, something really horrific that I wouldn't want to repeat," John replied. "But it's all good now, I'm sure." Assuming Gavin was willing to play the repression game along with John.

Jaina eyed him warily, a little afraid of what he wasn't saying and hoping he'd give in and tell her if she just stared at him long enough.

He didn't deal well with the staring. "What?"

"I really want to know what was so horrific," she told him.

John rolled his eyes, "Fine! He mocked my hair."

"Mocked your hair?" Jaina asked, trying not to smile. "So you hit him."

"It had been building," he said. "And it was a very, um, emotional day."

She tilted her head, totally examining him for bruises. "Did he hit back?"

John crossed his arms, unamused by that question. "I said I only hit him once."

She held a hand up in surrender. "All right, fair enough. Just checking."

"Thank you," he replied. "So, was there anything else or are we moving on to new and different topics?"

"I think we've covered all the important bits so far," she said thoughtfully. "I'll let you know if that changes."

"I'm happy to hear that," and he was, because it meant nothing bad had made radio. "So, whatcha working on?"

"Inventiontronics class," she said, poking at her notebook. "I have to come up with an invention for tomorrow. It's not going well."

"They expect you to invent something on a week's notice?" John asked. "I'm glad I didn't sign up for that."

"Well, just the idea. The problem is it can't be weapons, and that seems to be where my brain's going," she explained. "Still."

"Invent something prankish," John suggested. "Or even better, something to do your homework while you do other things."
