The beach- Thursday evening

Jaina's portal was delayed. She had no idea how a portal could be delayed, but here she was. After a while of waiting at the causeway, she'd come to the beach, figuring that if she was going to be stuck waiting, she should at least get a change of scenery.

Watching the waves made her think too much, though. About her grandfather and Tiny Mom, about how certain things just kept popping up through the years, even about how much her thinking had changed since she was sixteen. That was when she'd check her datapad to read up on what was going on on Corellia, because potential conflict was a happier subject.

Or she'd check on her portal's ETA and curse at the very idea of gnomes when she saw it was delayed again. How?

He reached out to give her a tight hug. "Dad called for reinforcement."

Sometimes Anakin was smart. She hugged him back, agreeing, "If there is one person that's good to have around right now, it's you..."

"That's always nice to here," he said, pulling back slightly. "She'll be okay, but you don't need me to tell you that."

"I know," she nodded. "I worry more about him, really."

Not to turn Leia's philosophy on Jaina around on her or anything, but Jaina assumed that once the anger dissipated and things calmed down, she'd get through it just fine. But she'd had enough conversations with Anakin where he worried about this sort of thing that she didn't make those assumptions there.

Luke nodded. "He's been dreading this since she arrived," he said quietly. "Maybe now that it's over he'll be able to relax and just absorb the impact?"

"Hopefully. Then it's up to whether she forgives him or not," Jaina said. "And a lot of us can share in the blame for some of that, so it's not just him."

"I'm not sure she's really going to be spreading the blame around much," Luke replied. "I saw her a little bit ago," he added.

"No blasters pulled, though?" she checked.

"She pulled a blaster?"

"That's what I hear," Jaina said. "Though I don't think she did that at the same time Anakin was in the room."

Luke groaned quietly. "Oh, this family."

"You did know he was here, right?" she checked.

"Dad mentioned it in passing when I called after the picnic," Luke said. He smiled a little. "I like to check in that day, just in case."

"Okay, good. Didn't want to add more weirdness on top of everything," she said, relieved.

"We're complicated enough right now," he agreed. "I'll say hello to him on a different trip and finally get to meet him."

"This trip's a little stressy, yeah. I think he'd get a kick out of you, though." Because hello, Tiny Luke.

He arched up an eyebrow. "A kick out of me?"

"You're our teacher and yet you're here from before any of us are even born," she explained. "Yes, a kick out of you."

"My version of you should be arriving any day now," Luke said. "The timelines make it feel like your mother's been pregnant for years."

"In my timeline, she has," Jaina pointed out.

"I'd point that out to her, but I think she'd throw a boot at me," Luke said, laughing.

"Then don't do that. Her aim is really good," she laughed.

"And your father would probably video it and sell it to Lando for credits," Luke replied. "How are you doing?"

She shrugged. "Okay. It hasn't been the most fun couple of days, but now it's home and back to the usual. How about you?"

"Same," Luke admitted. "I'm hearing rumors about a Jedi who survived the Purge by living on a outlying planet--since it worked for Yoda and Obi-Wan, I need to investigate it."
