Flight Shed, Sunday afternoon

Jaina probably shouldn't have been surprised she managed to get permission to use the sim from her grandfather, but she was. And yes, she was a little gleeful at getting back into even simulated flight. Okay, so she kind of missed this sort of thing, and she would take what she could get.

She got down there early, unlocked the door, and waited outside for John.

"I suppose it's time," John sighed, getting out of the sim and removing his helmet. He scrubbed his hands through his hair, because...yeah.

Jaina shut down the program, pulling her helmet off and putting it back where it belonged. "I might have to see if I can't get the keys again sometime," she said.

"You 'might'?" John couldn't help the small pout. It was a natural reaction to loss of flight time.

"I'll certainly try," she said, trying very hard not to think the pout was cute. "It might be easier to get a yes since we haven't damaged anything."

"I'll make sure I'm extra polite to Prof. Skywalker in class this term," John added, thinking that was a small price for use of the simulator.

"Oh, so you're in that class, too," she said. "Sorry in advance if he comes down on you at all. He's sometimes a little overprotective." The plus, though, was that Jaina would see it and be able to yell later.

"Overprotective because we...came here together?"

"Maybe," she said. "See, you're a boy."

"I'm glad you noticed," John smirked.

"I'm very observant that way," she nodded seriously.

"So, should I not be a boy?" John asked, thinking that wasn't something he could change.

Jaina laughed a little. "No, I am perfectly happy with you being a boy. Please don't change that."

"Great, 'cause I don't think that's something I have control over," John smiled. "But I take it your relatives would prefer I weren't a boy?"

"The might take the boy thing in conjunction with us having been out a few times and be interesting about it," she said. Actually, if he wasn't a boy, they would probably have a few questions for her.

"Well, I like to be prepared, so I'm glad you mentioned it," he said. But really, going into that conversation with Prof. Skywalker would be really interesting no matter what. "Especially since we were planning to go out again."

"It doesn't scare you off?" she asked. Because her family could, and she was used to that, but that was mostly due to who they were.

"Nah," John said, failing to mention a Skywalker incident that may or may not cause problems for him later depending on one's sense of humor.

"Good," she said. "Then I'll definitely see what I can do about a rematch."

"Great," he grinned. "I'm gonna need to practice if I intend to win at some point."

"Maybe one day I'll let you," she said, completely teasing.

"And on that day pigs will fly," John teased back.

Jaina paused. "Do they not normally?"

"Oh, right," John really needed to stop the idioms. "No, they're big fat pink animals that do not possess wings."

"The things I miss not being a native," she said, though now she was trying to picture it.

"You're really not missing much," he assured her. "But we can always break out the music videos again if you want practice."
