Room 313, Saturday afternoon

Jaina didn't tend to sleep in late, but she did today. She started out trying to convince herself that she wasn't sick, then decided that was stupid and obviously she'd just come down with whatever was going around and it wasn't a big deal. She'd just go on like normal.

Which meant she was curled up on her bed trying to go over the latest reports she'd sent for the fourth time, because the fuzzy-headedness meant she comprehended nothing from the first three times.

A floppy-haired teen appeared smiling in her doorway, assuming the girl curled up in bed was just working too much as usual. "How 'bout you put away the work and we hit the boardwalk?"

"Can't," she said, not realizing till now that she sounded a little stuffed-up. "There's too much to do and it's taking way too long already."

John frowned and headed over to the bed, "You don't sound too hot."

Ironic, because of the slight fever. "I'm fine," she grumbled, moving to give him room if he didn't mind the germs. "It's just a little cold."

Not afraid of simple germs, John crawled onto the bed next to her. "You sure it's just a cold? These things can get pretty ugly." He reached to feel her forehead.

"It's a cold," Jaina repeated, frowning at the fever-checking. "I'm just a little stuffy, that's all."

"You feel warm to me," John replied. "Have you tried a healing trance or anything?"

"For a cold?" she said. "There's no point. They go away."

"So then you'll come out with me tonight?" He didn't want her to anymore, but that wasn't the point.

"I think I want to stay in," she said apologetically. "Raincheck?"

"Sure," he shrugged. "It's not going anywhere. You wanting to be alone in the staying in?"

"You can stay if you want," Jaina said. "Though I really do have to go over some reports so that will be thrilling."

"You could read them aloud and I could get a nap in," he teased.

"They're not exactly boring. Just complicated." Too complicated for her brain today.

"You underestimate my ability to nap through things," he replied.

"No napping through work," she ordered.

"It's your work, not mine," he said.

"We'll see about that," Jaina said. "Though, okay, the reports are mine."

He peered over at her. "And that's supposed to mean what, exactly?"

"It means I talked to Wedge," she said. "He's keeping me waiting, though."

"Really?" Some part of him hadn't thought she'd do it. "That's awesome!" And now he was trying to hug her.

She'd let him, even if she was a bit low-energy himself. "I told you I would," she reminded him.

He settled back next to her happily. "You did. And thank you."

"I think he'll agree to it," she went on. "I'm just waiting for word back."

"When do you think you'll hear?" Not that he was impatient or anything. "And then what happens?"
