Room 313, Saturday afternoon

Jaina didn't tend to sleep in late, but she did today. She started out trying to convince herself that she wasn't sick, then decided that was stupid and obviously she'd just come down with whatever was going around and it wasn't a big deal. She'd just go on like normal.

Which meant she was curled up on her bed trying to go over the latest reports she'd sent for the fourth time, because the fuzzy-headedness meant she comprehended nothing from the first three times.

She really loved when he smiled like that. "And if I get to boss you around even more, even better."

"And if I happen to like when you boss me around, all the better," he teased.

"You'd have to get used to it anyway, I outrank you," she pointed out.

"Of course you do," he smiled. "You're a goddess."

"And promoted," she said with a little smile.

"You got promoted and you didn't say anything?" John replied, still smiling despite the chastising tone.

She cleared her throat,not wanting to sound all raspy when she answered. "I was going to surprise you, and then we kept getting distracted."

He frowned, not liking this whole ill thing she had going on. "Well, we're not distracted now. So what's your new title?"

"Major," she answered. "I mean, I've been doing the work for it for a while now."

"So, Major, can I get you anything? O.J.? Chicken soup?"

"I'm okay," she insisted. "You don't actually have to be my errand boy here, you know."

"I'm not being you errand boy," he said defensively, "Try that I'm being your boyfriend who sees you're sick and would like to help."

"I'm barely sick. It's probably just a 24 hour thing. I'm just going to take it easy today and be fine tomorrow," she assured him.

"If you're so sure about it, we should make plans to hit the sim tomorrow. Practice shooting my ass down and all that." He so did not think she would be well in the morning.

"Sure," Jaina agreed. "Make sure you know what you're doing in there."

John chuckled, "You just said I do. Taking it back now?"

"Shush, you," she said, leaning against his side.

"See, you're sick. Just wallow in it for a bit and it'll get you anything you want," he promised, wrapping an arm around her.

"But I don't like wallowing. And I can get anything I want by getting up and getting it." Because she was moving.

"Well, if you feel like getting up, you're definitely not sick," John decided.

Now was probably not the time to point out that she'd continued to do downright dangerous stuff while blind or very possibly badly concussed. Besides, she really didn't want to get up. "See? Fine."

"Okay, then I won't treat you like you're sick," he said, making a face at her.

"Thank you," she said, and stuck her tongue out at him because she saw that.

"So you should not be laying in bed in the middle of the afternoon," he said. "Especially fully clothed."

"I'm laying on bed," she clarified. "And too bad. I was being comfortable to go over my work."
