George Washington Masonic Memorial- Alexandria, VA- Saturday night

Sometime after the cheer had been had and people had been appropriately soaked, there was a trip into Alexandria, and specifically a little monument. Which, yes, Jaina found pretty cool, even if she's used to seeing monuments. It wasn't stuck on top of another monument, to begin with. That automatically put it in the plus category.

"This is pretty impressive," she admitted. "And I'm not even entirely sure what it is."

"It's a monument. A really big monument," John said, squishing his lips up in a funny face. "But definitely cool."

"Do you know what it's for?" Jaina wondered, smiling a little at the face. "Pretend I'm new."

"Well, from the name I assume it's a memorial to George Washington," he said. Then he remembered the new part and furrowed his brows. "He was a big hero and leader-type. Way back in the day."

"Aha. One of the old boring guys," she said with understanding, and that was all she needed to hear. "He got a good tourist attraction out of it."

"Sure seems like. Nice giant landscaped 'G,' too," John remarked. "Maybe we should suggest they put a huge 'F' in outside the dorms at school."

"You know, if you suggested it, I'm sure someone would try to burn that into the lawn as a prank," Jaina mused. "And vandalize from there."

"I'll have to write it up and drop it in the vandalism suggestion box," John said thoughtfully.

"It terrifies me that I had to question whether or not we actually had one. It terrifies me more that I don't actually know."

John laughed, "If there's not one, we should definitely make one. We'll need to get a box. How are you with drawing?"

"Absolutely horrible unless it's a schematic," she answered with a smile. "We might need to enlist a professional."

"Hmm. We'll have to find someone we can trust," John considered. "Wouldn't want just anyone knowing what we were up to. Stealth is key."

"I can see myself learning a lot about that," Jaina said. "How was the cheer thing? Were you appropriately stealthy?"

"I was very stealthy," John informed her. "I was covert even when they soaked me."

"So they probably didn't even know they did it," Jaina said seriously. "Who won?"

"I think they might've known what with the chasing and the doubling," John smirked. "Who won is...complicated."

Jaina grinned. "You're not convincing me of your stealth now. So basically you all just got each other wet and called it a day?"

"That about sums it up," John grinned. "You do anything of the nefarious variety today?"

"Unfortunately no. I did work on the hoverboard," she said. "Which, in a pinch, could probably be used for nefarious purposes at a later date."

"I can't wait to see that finished." John quite liked skateboarding and hover boarding had to be better.

"When it is, I might have to let you try it out," she offered.

"That would be great," John smiled. "Where'd you learn to build things like that?"

"My dad, mainly," she said with a little shrug. "I actually know a lot of mechanically-inclined people, but he has this old ship that's always breaking down, so I started helping fix it when he'd let me, and then branched out. It's one of those fun hobbies."

"Wow, so you grew up with space ships?" John was impressed. Here he'd always just wanted to fly around in the air. Space had always been a bit out of reach. "That must have been fun."

"It is," she said, smiling. And made a mental note to get that transport pod up because she kind of missed being in space. "So you remember the X-wings from Flight and Flying? I fly one of those back home."

"Those were really cool," John grinned, totally envious and thinking he really needed to get his regular pilot's license finished already. "That workshop was great. I kinda wish they offered an expanded version for the fall."
