Flight Shed, Sunday afternoon

Jaina probably shouldn't have been surprised she managed to get permission to use the sim from her grandfather, but she was. And yes, she was a little gleeful at getting back into even simulated flight. Okay, so she kind of missed this sort of thing, and she would take what she could get.

She got down there early, unlocked the door, and waited outside for John.

"Good game," she said into the headset. Honestly, the fact that he tried to put up a good fight knowing her advantages impressed her more than anything else.

"Great game," he replied. "I'm pleased I didn't get blown to bits."

"Well, normally I'd get the target and see if I still needed to shoot things afterwards," she said with a one-shouldered shrug.

"I had this strange feeling I'd never beat you to the target," John smirked.

"You hit me," she said, faking accusatory.

"What can I do to make it up to you?" he said, faking regret.

"Hmm. What haven't I been lavished with recently...?"

"I'm sure I don't know..."

"Well, I think at the very least, you owe me another outing now," she said.

"That I can do, at the very least," he said.

Such a good answer. "Good. You ready to leave the sim?" Jaina asked.

"I suppose it's time," John sighed, getting out of the sim and removing his helmet. He scrubbed his hands through his hair, because...yeah.

Jaina shut down the program, pulling her helmet off and putting it back where it belonged. "I might have to see if I can't get the keys again sometime," she said.

"You 'might'?" John couldn't help the small pout. It was a natural reaction to loss of flight time.

"I'll certainly try," she said, trying very hard not to think the pout was cute. "It might be easier to get a yes since we haven't damaged anything."

"I'll make sure I'm extra polite to Prof. Skywalker in class this term," John added, thinking that was a small price for use of the simulator.

"Oh, so you're in that class, too," she said. "Sorry in advance if he comes down on you at all. He's sometimes a little overprotective." The plus, though, was that Jaina would see it and be able to yell later.

"Overprotective because we...came here together?"

"Maybe," she said. "See, you're a boy."

"I'm glad you noticed," John smirked.

"I'm very observant that way," she nodded seriously.

"So, should I not be a boy?" John asked, thinking that wasn't something he could change.

Jaina laughed a little. "No, I am perfectly happy with you being a boy. Please don't change that."

"Great, 'cause I don't think that's something I have control over," John smiled. "But I take it your relatives would prefer I weren't a boy?"

"The might take the boy thing in conjunction with us having been out a few times and be interesting about it," she said. Actually, if he wasn't a boy, they would probably have a few questions for her.
