Room 313, Saturday afternoon

After last night's trip to the common room, Jaina was still cracking up internally. Sorry, but now she had enough mocking opportunities for John, Karal and Gavin to last her for a good long time.

And she was pretty much getting ready to attempt tracking them down to do so, definitely knowing where to start.

"Nah," he said. "Wouldn't be a fair fight."

"You don't think I could take her?" she teased.

He laughed, "No, I'm positive you could take her." And him, too.

"You're very good for my ego, you know," she said, tapping her foot against his thigh.

"Is that the only thing I'm good for?" he said, trapping her foot with his hand.

"No, you've proven yourself good at a few other things," she said with a little smile.

"My ego would like some examples that don't include barbershop singing," he said.

"You're a great pilot," she started, because of course that was Important, "really easy to talk to..."

John bit back a smile, "I'm sounding pretty good so far..."

"Not so bad with your hands, either."

"These things?" he held them up, as if inspecting them.

"You don't have more I don't know about, do you?" she asked.

"Spare hands? Sadly no," he told her. "Is that something normal from your world?"

"Depends on the species," Jaina answered. "Though yours are just fine the way they are. All two of them."

He pushed aside questions about aliens as now was not the time. "They do clap together nicely," he said.

"They do a lot of things nicely," she agreed.

"Were you looking for a demonstration?" he asked.

"I thought you'd been giving one," she smiled.

"I seem to be failing at the moment," he frowned.

"Pretty easily fixed," she reminded him.

He brushed his fingertips over her cheek, "Like this?"

Her eyes fluttered closed briefly, and she said, "Good start."

He moved both hands to cup her face and kissed her very briefly. "Better?"

"Getting there," she said, kissing his lower lip just as briefly.

He slid his hands down to the side of her shoulders. "You'll tell me when we're there?"
