Room 313, Saturday afternoon

After last night's trip to the common room, Jaina was still cracking up internally. Sorry, but now she had enough mocking opportunities for John, Karal and Gavin to last her for a good long time.

And she was pretty much getting ready to attempt tracking them down to do so, definitely knowing where to start.

"Well," she began, "the coordination is really impressive. Especially on such short notice. I'd have thought practice would have had to be involved."

"Go on," he replied with a smirk, pulling her legs onto his lap.

"And how you knew all those songs," she went on. "And the talking-singing song. What's it called here? Rap?"

"Yes, that's rap," he said, getting himself comfortable.

"Should I go on?" she asked.

"Of course," he grinned, not wanting to stop her fun as he liked hearing what she thought.

"And you were the best," Jaina said.

John laughed, knowing she was just flattering him. "This voice, I don't think so. Karal was far superior." Though, why he was arguing about his embarrassing barbershop experience, he didn't know.

"Maybe I just wasn't paying as much attention to him." Though poor Karal was probably feeling the splits today.

"Your focus must've been on Gavin, then," he teased.

"Please don't hurt my head like that," she said.

"Sorry," he said, petting her head. "I'm sure I'd say the same if someone from my future was here on the island. Though, he's quite a dancer..."

"I'm going to have to try so hard to avoid a court-martial with my next visit home," she said. "Though you're right, he is pretty good."

"Just try to avoid asking him about his singing, dancing, and fascination with underwear and I'm sure you'll do fine," John advised her.

"Or maybe if I punctuate it with 'sir'..."

"I'd recommend against 'ma'am'..."

"That would get me tossed out of the military, and Inara would probably hit me," Jaina said.

"Neither of which would be enjoyable," he said.

"I like you even more for not saying you would sell tickets to that fight," Jaina told him.

"Nah," he said. "Wouldn't be a fair fight."

"You don't think I could take her?" she teased.

He laughed, "No, I'm positive you could take her." And him, too.

"You're very good for my ego, you know," she said, tapping her foot against his thigh.

"Is that the only thing I'm good for?" he said, trapping her foot with his hand.

"No, you've proven yourself good at a few other things," she said with a little smile.
