Flight Shed, Sunday afternoon

Jaina probably shouldn't have been surprised she managed to get permission to use the sim from her grandfather, but she was. And yes, she was a little gleeful at getting back into even simulated flight. Okay, so she kind of missed this sort of thing, and she would take what she could get.

She got down there early, unlocked the door, and waited outside for John.

John was practically bouncing (in a manly sort of way) as he made his way to the flight shed. When he reached the open door and found Jaina waiting outside, he smirked and said, "And here I thought you'd already be inside brushing up on your skills."

"Wouldn't want us to start out on more uneven footing," she smiled. "Besides, then I probably wouldn't actually notice when you got here and we can't have that."

"How thoughtful of you," John smiled back. "But I would've made my presence known."

"Oh yeah?" she asked. To be fair, she probably could have sensed him unless she was really just that focused, but what fun was that? "How?"

"By talking," John answered. "Loudly."

"Think you could be heard over the helmet?"

"I think you underestimate what I mean when I say 'loudly.'"

"I think I do. And while I'm curious, I'm also not going to ask for a demonstration," she said. "Ready to go in?"

John grinned, "Yes I am." He waved an arm in front of him. "After you."

Jaina stepped inside, heading towards the simulator. "Any idea what you want to fly?"

Everything was probably not an option. At least not at once, so John considered what they'd flown in class. "I'm awfully fond of the F-16s and the X-Wings," he replied. "What're you itching to fly?"

"I would always say X-wings, but I'm biased," she admitted.

"Hey, there's nothing wrong with bias when it comes to awesome spaceships," he said. "Sounds like X-Wings are the way to go."

"X-wings it is," she said, and got to work on setting it up. Without breaking it, Anakin would be very happy to know. "And hey, an excuse to wear more helmets," she told him.

"Personally, I find the helmets incredibly attractive," John remarked dryly. He was so looking forward to the flat hair afterwards.

She handed him one. "It's a hard look to carry off, but those who can, wow."

He took the helmet. "You know, if anyone can, it's Luke." He's got the icon and everything.

"That's a given," she said, putting the helmet on. "What do you think, is it me?"

"Absolutely. It must be the genes that make it look so good," John said.

Jaina smiled, patting her own helmet. "Would you rather go head to head or just run something like the trench run together?" she asked.

John stuck his helmet on. "Depends on how competitive you're feeling," he grinned.

"Well, I'm pretty sure I could beat you at this," she said, trying to look serious and failing.

"Meaning I'm not much competition?" John smirked. He didn't know if he was. She'd always done better than him in the class sims.

"Well, I do have the upper hand," she said, not exactly ageeing, but pointing out that very important detail.

"You say that like you have more than just extra training over me," he said.
