"You? Messing with me?" he feigned shock. "I'm glad you're enjoying yourself."

"Honey, you sang in a group with four other guys," she said. "This is going to be the thing I think of years from now when I need cheering up. Of course I'm enjoying myself."

John buried his face in his hands, "I'm never living it down then?"

"No. It's right up there with the bunny cuddle thing," Jaina told him. "But that's okay. It's good that I can know you're vulnerable every now and then."

Never getting old.

He peeked at her through his fingers. "Can we pretend it never happened?"

"No. But that will be the last I say of it for now," she said. Probably. "You've been such a good sport about it and all."

"You are a kind, kind lady," John smiled. "Tell me about your week?"

She took a seat on the bed, scooting backwards until her back was against the wall, leaving room in case he wanted to sit. "Classes, yelled at my grandfather, Parents Weekend is going to be Interesting, and then there was that thing last night I said I wouldn't mention anymore."

"Yelled at your grandfather?" he asked, sitting cross-legged on the bed facing her.

"I went to talk to him about last Thursday's class, where my dad was on the wall?" she asked, like that was an easily forgotten thing. "My grandfather can be a jerk sometimes." And yeah, that was a new revelation, at least when it came to her.

"He doesn't strike me as warm and cuddly," he commented. "Though I assume he said something especially jerky?"

"Of course I didn't get an apology," she said with a shrug. "He did keep badmouthing my own father to me, though. I didn't so much appreciate that."

"He didn't apologize?" John frowned. "That sort of talk must make family functions just amazing at your house."

"He's not around in my reality. One of those Fandom time weirdness things," Jaina admitted. "Everyone else I'm related to knows how to say words like 'I'm sorry' every now and then."

"Strange," John said. "Now, you said something about Parent's Weekend??" He wondered if he was going to need to invite her to hide out with him and Lee if certain adults arrived.

"Yeah. My dad is coming, funnily enough, along with my master," she said, figuring she should leave the "aunt" bit out until she talked to Luke. And she was definitely watching for reaction.

While he was surprised to hear her dad was coming, just because that would make things very interesting, he repeated, "Your master?" because that was not something he'd heard her make reference to before.

"Training," she explained. "I'm a Jedi Knight, but I've been apprenticed to a Master to learn more. That would be Mara. She's the one who sent me here."

"So, your dad (who I've heard great things about), your Jedi master, and a partridge in a pear tree are coming," he said, twinkle in his eye. "I bet the professor's looking forward to next weekend."

"A partridge?" she frowned, but shook it off. "He didn't seem very happy about it. And I had to explain some things about Fandom to my dad, so I'm not sure how things are going to go."

He reached out to hold her hand, "Hey, if you need help wrangling adults, let me know, okay?" Otherwise, he'd make with the hiding out.

"Thanks," she said, squeezing his hand. "I'm looking forward to it, for the most part. And if they want to meet you?"

"Assuming you want them to meet me, I'm willing and able," he told her.

"I don't think it would be a bad thing. My dad might glare, but I'm sure you're used to that by now. And I promise he's better than what you've heard," she said. "Do you have anyone coming?"

"Seems the men in your family aren't too keen on you dating," John remarked. "I haven't heard from my family either way, but I'm hoping not."
